I love water …. being in it,
on it, under it, around it!!Water is life and we need it for survival …. and water can be so much FUN too! :-)
The weather the past few weeks has been incredibly glorious and it still feels like summer …. warm sunny days in the high 20’s, clear blue skies, ocean temperature around 24-26 degrees, light to no breeze during the days, balmy evenings and magnificent sunsets. How lucky we are …. extremely grateful and love living in Paradise, where better to live! :-)
Some of the water fun I’ve been fortunate enough to delight in the past few weeks has been….
Hitting the beach in the mornings to run up and down sand hills, soft sand walking and a swim or “play” in the waves after to cool down! We’ve been blessed with two weeks of superb weather, perfect for the outdoors, beach and school holidays. From memory, this has been the best Easter break for weather that I’ve experienced living here the past six years – every day was perfect! A dream for locals and holiday makers alike, heaven on earth! :-)
Boating and fishing with friends was a blast! Absolutely loved it! A beautiful, luxurious boat with sexy lines and all the mod con’s, extremely comfortable and spacious, looks brand spanking new and is a dream on the water. Had loads of fun and laughs, thanks guys, and experienced a stunning sunset! :-) A lucky day for the small fish that took the bait …. living to swim another day. Next time!
Surfing at Currumbin Beach was another fun experience! Haven’t been on a board for some time, as I sold my board when I moved from Sydney to Brisbane. We hit the surf and we managed to catch our fair share of waves …. the smaller white foam kind, rather than the big monsters out back! Invigorating and a great workout for the entire body, as getting back out required more effort than catching the wave in. Well worth the buzz though! :-) Being school holidays, the beach was jam packed with people enjoying the surf …. it looked like an obstacle course in the water! Last wave of the day I caught, I was taken out by a person on a boogie board coming in from the side who lost control and ended up wearing their board on my chin. Ouch! Despite all the bruises, I loved it and I’ll be back out in the surf for sure!
Stand Up Paddle Boarding at Budds Beach, Surfers Paradise was a first! Woohoo!! We took to this new form of water fun like ducks to water …. a few initial wobbles and we were off and into it! :-) Went straight from knees to feet and didn’t look back. Good day for it and I quickly learnt that after paddling flat out into the headwind and against the tide, I could turn the board and fairly much drift back with the tide and the wind! Was a great day sharing the water with people fishing along the banks, families playing near the sandy shore area, and the boats, jet skis and kayaks out on the water with us …. enjoyed stopping for a chat mid water!
I’m excited and eager to know what my next fun water adventure will be, as I love the water and I love new experiences. No matter whether you’re a water person or not, I encourage you to stay active, get outdoors in the fresh air and have a go at something new and exciting. Get outside your comfort zone and amaze yourself! I imagine you’ll have loads of FUN too, just as I did! Life is to live and we all do it in different ways, so be sure to do what you love and live a life you love! :-)
